Flowserve R&D Engineer in Springville, Utah

This role is responsible for ideation, proof of concept, and supporting the development of complex and innovative mechatronic and digital solutions. It involves active onsite collaboration with globally distributed teams, customers, and partners.

Responsibilities

Technology: Sharing knowledge by attending trade fairs, visiting possible technology partners, visiting customers and visiting Flowserve teams around the world

Analysis of state-of-the-art technologies

Analysis of existing mechatronic products

Technical consultant and supporting of mechatronics development projects

Responsible for ideation, proof of concepts and technology projects

Hardware solutions: Design of industrial and robust hardware (drive electronics, sensor measurement electronics and application controller)

Design concepts (e.g. modularity) for partner hardware development

Design of enterprise platform architecture for mechatronics products and IoT HW solutions

Design of enterprise hardware platform guidelines and concept descriptions for mechatronics products

Assist the embedded software development team for the hardware abstraction layer activities

Simulation: HW design simulations (e.g. SPICE)

Power electronics simulation

Electronics system thermic simulation

SW Application: Function specification of the product application

Job Requirements University degree – Mechatronic, Automation, Electronics or similar

More than 8 years of professional experience in the mechatronics or electrical engineering is required.

Extended knowledge for the design of modern control and application systems

Extended knowledge of interaction between electrical, mechanical, and physical systems – understanding of the complete mechatronics system

Extended knowledge of modern motor, drive technology and power electronics design

Experience with integration and using of embedded hardware

Experience with planning and definition of automation systems or products with using COTS components

Experience with measurement electronics development

Experience with modern field bus technologies and industrial wireless communications

Experience with hardware certifications (EMC, low voltage directives, UL, CSA)

Experience with electrical explosion protection and intrinsically safe circuit design

Experience with modern microcontroller technology

Preferred Experience / Skills: Fundamentals of embedded C/C++ programming

Fundamentals of embedded software design and cyber security standards

Fundamentals of information technology

Travel Requirements: Candidate needs to be internationally mobile and be prepared to visit other regions when required. Travel up to 20%.
