Flowserve R&D Mechanical Engineer in Guelph, Ontario

Job Summary: The Global Product Engineer is responsible for accelerating the development and implementation of new leading-edge product technology throughout the pump product portfolio in order to provide a competitive advantage to the corporation. This position will coordinate closely with the Engineering teams of FPD and AMSS to prioritize the work with the business objectives and strategic initiatives of the operations. In addition, this position will align with M&T to develop and execute product development programs for the pump product portfolio and incorporate the outcomes of technology development efforts into Flowserve products. We are currently looking for a Product Engineer, in Guelph Ontario.

Responsibilities: Review written specifications and process/application parameters

Write equipment/component RFQ's to obtain vendor's quotes

Develop and prepare drawings, plans, P&ID’s, layouts and BOM from engineering specifications.

Select appropriate equipment considering technical and economic issues

Provide TECHNICAL engineering details to customers

Review and approve all drawings and final BOM’s

Prepare design layouts of structural bases in accordance with engineering specifications.

Perform peer reviews of designs to ensure accuracy to specifications, standards, and codes.

Mechanical design of standard systems SIHI dry and boost according to defined guidelines and standards

Application of design engineering principles regarding standardized modules, configurability, and design in line with function and production requirements

Execution of further product engineering tasks and projects according to the specifications of the product management, projects, and coordination of the supporting Global resources

Release product to manufacture and support fabrication with assistance when necessary

Review standard assembled system and perform inspection

Facilitate "kick-off" of project meetings as required

Submit final documentation to Document Control Clerk, for distribution to customer

Occasionally provide technical assistance and support to the field (answer customer and distributor questions regarding engineering details; assist with system implementation and start-up questions)

Work with other departments to develop tools such as literature, product pricing and new product design to improve group efficiency and product quality for special projects

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

P. Eng required (or eligible with PEO)

3-5 years of practical experience with pumping systems

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Comprehension of technical and economic aspects of system components, including sizing and selection. (Pumps, exchangers, ejectors, valves, piping, controls, vessels, materials)

Fluid mechanics and flow of fluids on pipelines

Operate 3D CAD station.

Working knowledge of industry standards such as ASME code, ANSI B31.3, ASTM specifications, etc.

Working knowledge of Engineering Contracts, approval and submissions, engineering documentation and other related aspects to custom engineered products

Working knowledge of Oil and Gas/Petrochemical and associated industries and practices

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio

Preferred Experience / Skills: Mechanical Engineering

hazardous and ordinary location areas

Experience with SAP preferred

3 + years of project engineering/ management experience is preferred
